What is Healthy Aging?

Hi, my name is Ron. I’m an MD-MPH and a patient who has been on both sides of the fence tackling the epidemic of chronic illness, presenting with symptoms of low energy, weight gain, brain fog, melancholy, pain, bloating, and irritable bowel i.e. metabolic syndrome. All of which are primarily due to lifestyle factors. I have to remind patients that a bulging midline is not a “right of passage” and spending your “golden years” looking for your keys or sitting at the doctor’s office to get your scripts filled is not normal healthy aging. I get the frustration with the seemingly daunting task of making sustainable lifestyle changes. “Good news” is you don’t have to be a gourmet chef, marathon runner, or spend thousands of dollars on analytics and a life coach.

 

Wellness is a Practice!

We put together a road map that “empowers” one with the “knowledge” of how the healthy evolution of our relationship with nourishment and movement has been “disrupted” in the modern world, “no fault of yours,” to get to the motivational “why” it is “essential” to be “proactive” integrating nourishment and movement in our lifestyle for healthy aging. Also, “empowering” one with the “increased awareness” of how we “interact with our environment” not only through food and movement but also “mentally,” impacts healthy aging and achieving wellness. Most importantly, after getting to the motivational why, we will weave in a little science behind behavior “enhancement” with “mindfulness practice,” while “minimizing barriers,” to copilot you to your “wellness destination.”

A paradigm shift in our relationship with nourishment and movement from the externally guilt-driven “I should” to a more internally driven self-compassionate choice to live one’s best life.
